Why is the Sky Blue?

Why is the Sky Blue?
This is one of the most common questions kids ask their parents. So what is the answer?
Well the simple asnwer is that light is white and when this white light moves through the gases that make up our atmosphere the gases basically reflect or re-emit this blue light. We can actually also answer another question at the same time.
Why is the Sun Yellow?
Well if you were in space the sun would look white because no colours have been filtered out of the travelling light. On Earth we have just found out that the blue light is refelected or absorbed by gas particles which is basically a filter. The colours that are left are the shine through in the form of a yellow beam of light. This and some other great questions are answered on my other page Fun Science Facts. Well I hope This helps answer your question about why the sky is blue.
Have Fun!
